International Women's Day 2021

Written by: Dio Zhao

This International Women's Day, we are united in celebrating the contributions of our women in HVAC&R wholesale and raising awareness about gender equality in the workplace.

Cassie Lee – Branch Manager, Beijer Ref Gladstone

How long have you been with Beijer Ref and what do you love most about your role?

I have been with the Beijer Ref/Patton company for 4 1/2 yrs. Every day there's something new to learn and a new challenge to face & overcome.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Equality in the workplace. Celebrating that with hard work, women can do anything we put our minds to.

How can this year’s theme of "Choose to Challenge" be applied to our daily lives?

As a working mum of 2 girls, every day is a challenge to get that work/home/life balance. I need to get that right to show my girls that with hard work & determination we really can achieve what we want to. Although life has its challenges, gender should never get in the way of getting things done.

Why should other young women join the HVACR industry?

We are great at multitasking & organising, which are skills needed to help get our tradies sorted and on their way. The industry has its challenges, but it is also quite rewarding dealing with the people in this trade. There are a lot of interesting fridgys out there.

Here's to strong women - May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.

Jenna-Lee Salisbury - Customer Service Representative, Beijer Ref Archerfield

How long have you been with Beijer Ref and what do you love most about your role?

I’ve been with Beijer Ref for 12 months now and my favourite thing about it is the great amount of highly skilled and talented people within the business that I get to spend time with and learn from. They set a new standard all on their own.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Recognition that you can do whatever you choose, if you have a solid work ethic and good attitude you can go anywhere you will to – don’t be over shadowed by others confidence.

How can this year’s theme of "Choose to Challenge" be applied to our daily lives?

We should be challenging ourselves consistently so we not only improve but hopefully one day become something greater.

Why should other young women join the HVACR industry?

If you are willing to make it work there is a lot of opportunity & you get out what you put in.
